Gauteng Refinery and associated group companies offer a full metallurgical support function for base and precious metal processing for clients.
We supply to quality sensitive industries and have an in house and commercial testing facility dedicated to ensuring we meet the highest standards.
We offer competitive pricing and services based on your assay requirements and create tailor made assay services within your stipulated service level agreement required.
This includes,
1. SAMPLING AND SAMPLE PREPARATION
This service comprises the use of drying ovens, crushers, riffle splitters, screens, and a pulveriser to prepare material for assay purposes.
Samples emulate the refining process and require significant preparation before being measured on any form of ICP OES instrumentation.
Where possible Gauteng Refinery would be willing to come on site to ensure proper sampling.
90% of analytical error is due to poor sampling particularly if the material is not homogeneous, another 9% in poor sample preparation.
Sourcing representative samples and proper sample preparation are critical for assay purposes.
2. FULL ANALYTICAL LABORATORY
We adopt a number of different technologies such as Inductive Coupled Plasma (ICP), UV Spectrometry, Titrimetric Anaysis as well as various other techniques.
We are ISO 9001:2015 Certified.
A full range of analytical services is available across the full periodic table including more complex analytical services for platinum, palladium, rhodium, ruthenium, osmium, and iridium.
3. MINERAL CHARACTERISATION
We provide services for full mineralogy evaluation.
4. BENCH SCALE TESTING
This includes both,
Hydrometallurgy including but not limited to diagnostic leaching, flotation, gravity separation, biotechnology
Pyrometallurgy including but not limited to calcining, roasting, smelting
Full cognisance is taken of environmental impacts and the management thereof.
5. PROCESS DEVELOPMENT, EVALUATION, OPTIMISATION
The organisation has an experienced team of practical metallurgists and chemical engineers.
Whilst gold, silver and platinum group metals are the focus, the separation and beneficiation of base metals such as cobalt, copper and zinc are well developed.
6. OUTSOURCED CLIENT SUPPORT
This includes cooperation agreements for formal on-going support with design, installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance, metallurgical accounting, and metals offtake and sales of your refined precious metal
